Jacobs said the information and public input session was the first part of developing a feasibility study to determine if it is possible to build the workforce development center in downtown Aiken and, if so, how to build it. He said the next steps are a historical survey and condition assessment and working with potential tenants of the national lab (its university collaborative and USC Aiken) to determine space needs. From there, a preliminary feasibility study will be developed in mid- to late-April and presented for public comment. Next, a final feasibility study will be developed and more public input sought. After that, planning can begin for development of the site.
